Near‐infrared light activated core‐shell electrospun nanofibers decorated with photoactive plasmonic nanoparticles for on‐demand smart drug delivery applications

Over the last few years, traditional drug delivery systems (DDSs) have been transformed into smart DDSs. Recent advancements in biomedical nanotechnology resulted introducing stimuli-responsiveness to vehicles. Nanoplatforms can enhance release efficacy while reducing side effects of drugs by taking advantage responses specific internal or external stimuli. In this study, we developed an electrospun nanofibrous photo-responsive The photo-responsivity platform enables on-demand elevated release. Furthermore, it provide a sustained profile and prevent burst high concentrations drugs. A coaxial electrospinning setup paired with electrospraying technique is used fabricate core-shell PVA-PLGA nanofibers decorated plasmonic nanoparticles. fabricated hydrophilic PVA Rhodamine-B (RhB) core, shell hydrophobic PLGA gold nanorods (Au NRs). presence nanoparticles twice amount besides exhibiting long-term Investigations mechanism demonstrate system's potential as “smart” platform.
